Reginald Gibbons (b. 1947) is an American poet, fiction writer, translator, literary critic, artist, and Professor of English, Classics, and Spanish and Portuguese at Northwestern University. Gibbons has also published numerous essays and reviews, held Guggenheim and NEA fellowships in poetry, and has won the Anisfield Wolf Book Award, the Carl Sandburg Prize, the Folger Shakespeare Library's 2004 O. B. Hardison, Jr. Poetry Prize, and other honors, among them the inclusion of his work in Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize anthologies. His most recent book, Creatures of a Day, was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Award for poetry.

April Sinclair is the author of three novels, the critically acclaimed bestseller, Coffee Will Make You Black, Ain’t Gonna Be The Same Fool Twice, and I Left My Back Door Open. The American Library Association named Coffee Will Make You Black 1994 Book of the Year (Young Adult Fiction Category.) April also received the Carl Sandburg Award in Literature from The Friends of the Chicago Public Library for Coffee Will Make You Black. Before April burst onto the national literary scene in 1994, she was an Oakland-based community activist who read from her work in progress to large, enthusiastic audiences in San Francisco Bay Area coffeehouses, bookstores and at grassroots events. April has been a fellow at the Djerassi, Yaddo, MacDowell and Ragdale artist colonies. April is a Chicago native who graduated from Calumet High School on the city’s South Side. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Western Illinois University. April also did graduate work at San Francisco State University. April has championed the cause of literacy inside the walls of adult prison, juvenile halls, alternative schools and drug rehabilitation centers.

Dan “Sully” Sullivan is a Chicago based Stand-Up Poet. His personal-narrative, anthemic poetry is at times hilarious, mostly inspiring, usually desperate, and always heartwarming. He’s one part Carl Sandburg, one part Mike Ditka, and two parts Teddy Bear. Yes, he is four parts. He has appeared on Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO, National Public Radio, and your mom’s couch. He is the Chicago Mental Graffiti 2003, 04, & 05 Poetry Slam Champion and the recipient of The 2003 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Poetry Award. Sully is a member of The Speak’Easy Ensemble and makes up one half of the adorable duo Death From Below. Dan Sully is the Co-Founder & Sponsor of the Oak Park River Forest High School Spoken Word Club. the largest spoken word program in a public school in the country. The club allows students to create creative and meaningful work in a safe and supportive environment. He has performed at colleges, universities, schools, museums, festivals, bars, libraries, living rooms, theaters, coffeehouses, and community centers all over the world. Sully has been published in several magazines & anthologies including The Columbia Poetry Review,Learn Then Burn: A Modern Poetry Anthology for the Classroom, & Poems From The Big Muddy: The 2004 National Poetry Slam Anthology.
